So my students suggested this.
It's a hot toddy. And according to them, it has the power to cure what ails you.
(Hopefully, what ails ME, and before this weekend...)
3/4 cup of tea (I used mint tea)
1 tbs of honey
lemon slice squeezed
shot of burbon
Toss back a vitamin C and some echinacea for good measure.
--------------
Is it bad to curl up with this and watch TV at 11am?
I'm thinking maybe a nap too.

Oh, that sucks! If the hot toddie doesn't help, try pink lemonaide contentrate - the way it comes out of the can, don't dilute it. Heat it up in the microwave until it's as warm as you can tolerate it and drink a 1/4 cup of it. You can do that a few times a day. Does wonders for your throat. And sleep as much as possible before Rhinebeck.
What a great place to hold a knitting class!
do you teach at your house? what a nice place to sit and knit. feel better!
Lots of warm liquids help and I mean LOTS. Feel better. You have a few days to go.
Oh, the hot toddy! My husband swears by these things. Years ago while hiking in the rain and cold of Ireland he slurped one down when coming down with a cold and felt 100% better the next day. Here's hoping your toddy will be the exact cure you need.
after reading your post I wouldn't mind getting sick just to curl up infront of the TV with Jim at 11am!
Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Sounds like you've got that covered! :-)
Know how ya feel! I've been coughing my head off for 5 weeks straight now! But come on, Beam?~~~ Jack Daniels is the man! We just got done touring Jack Daniel's Distillery recently, and truly, Gentlejack is the very smoothest! I know, I know, when the cold bug hits, who the heck cares what brand, as long as it does the job. So sorry for you, especially with your trip coming up. ~Jan
Hi Jan --
Just reached for what was in the front of the cabinet. But will try Jack next time, I promise :-) Seems there's time later today to do a side by side....
Now that sounds like the perfect way to treat a cold. Hope that you feel better soon
I made my own version yesterday.
1/2 a lemon
2 shots burbon
1 stick cinnimon (how do I spell it?)
1 stick licorice root
generous pinch shredded licorice root
You have to find a hippy-dippy sort of store for the herbs, but it tastes great—sort of a syrupy sweetness without being too sweet—and you can chew on the sticks as you go.
I hope you feel better soon! My family has always sworn on the curing benefits of a hot toddy so I say drink up!
That's terrible! I bet the cold is those houseguests' fault. Boo. I hope you're better before Rhinebeck!
Oh—and hot water. That too.
